Hello Reader, Have you had a chance to check out our most recent issue of Make Modern yet? if so, then you know it's packed full of inspiration and quilty goodness! But if you haven't had a chance yet, let me share a little sneak peek of what's waiting you in the pages of Issue 72! Our cover quilt gets us off to a great start with a huge pop of rainbow! Echo Peels designed by Elaine Jackson is a modern classic featuring a single block element - the humble orange peel block. Featuring a rainbow that radiates from the centre, this is the perfect quilt for the colour-lover in your life! I don't think it's a secret - I'm a huge rainbow lover. I joke that while I may dress in a lot of black and dark colours, my soul is rainbow coloured. So naturally I'm drawn to these beautiful colourful projects - here's another two that make my rainbow heart happy! Prism Parade (left) by Jamie Siel is a fun and effective way to combine bold rainbow prints and a crisp, white background. With the repeating block and symmetrical layout, it's the perfect quilt for people who like their bold colour with a bit of order! Welcome to the Circus (right) by Hillary Cooper is a fun pillow that pairs an improv pieced rainbow arc and a rbight border with a crisp white background. It would make a lovely focal piece on any bed or sofa. Plus it's the perfect introductory project for anyone who wants to try improv piecing. While we Aussies are embracing Spring and the warmer weather, we know many of you are headed into the delightful time of year - Autumn (or Fall if you prefer). We have a couple of projects that are giving those Autumn vibes! Keeping Vigil (left) by Preeti Harris is an eye catching quilt constructed with simple strip piecing and clever block construction. The colour scheme Preeti chose gives the impressions of meteors flying across a night sky. Morrigan (right) by Erin Holmes is a medallion quilt rooted by Celtic folklore - inspired by the goddess of fate and transformation. Like the goddess known for her shape-shifting abilities, this pattern features many possible layouts for multiple options. Whether you're dreaming about your next quilt project, or already headed to the stash to start pulling fabrics, go check out Issue 72!
