Behind the Seams ✂️🧵

Hello Reader!,

The cold weather has arrived here in Australia and it's utterly delightful. It's seeing me spending more time digging through the stash and sewing up all sorts of pretty things. My constant furry companions (a ragdoll kitty and a sheepadoodle dog) come hang out to stay warm under the heater - and of course to offer advice on which fabrics I should choose. They aren't the most helpful but they are good company.

They also love a bit of a snuggle when I'm settling in for a good reading session - like our latest Issue 70! Have you had a chance to flip through the pages and find your next make? (Furry companion optional here!).

Last email we chatted about only half of our beautiful projects - this email we'll showcase the other half!

Let's start with Cottonwood, designed by Heather Davis. This is one of those quilts where are first glance you might wonder "how did they piece that?". Between the bold white crosses, the pink diagonal lines and spots and stripes of blue, it makes a stunning statement. It looks complex but it actually two mirror image blocks repeated to create an elaborate pattern.

We have plenty of beautiful geometric style quilts this issue. Like this lovely Compass Drift (below left) by Kathryn Leblanc. This quilt provides interest from every angle. Depending on your perspective, this quilt is a series of compass points, or circles, or a diagonal grid - it would make a show-stopping decorator piece in any home.

Diamond Baby (below right) is a sweet pastel concoction designed by Sandra Walker. The original inspiration for this quilt came from diamonds, Sandra's birthstone. Sandra chose very pale pastel solids to create this. It'd also be beautiful in low volumes or go all out with a more vibrant colour scheme for a different effect.

Our last two projects feature a striking quilt design plus a handy bag perfect for stashing all those notions.

Lattice Gate (below left) by Shereece Nicole features a classic blue background, gelato solids and white. It's a simple but striking quilt design which would appeal to the minimalist in your life. Switch out the fabrics to suit personal tastes - in any case you'll end up with a timeless quilt with wide appeal.

The Mindalin Bag (below right) by Elisabeth De Moo is such a fun way to store our quilty supplies and tools. This fun craft clutch features lots of clever storage options for the quilter on the go. It would make the perfect gift for craft friends, or yourself!

Ready to dive in and find your next project? Issue 70 awaits!
