A lil news from our team 😿

To our dear readers,

This isn't our usual newsletter. We wanted to share some news with you directly from the Make Modern team. After more than a decade of sharing quilty inspiration in our pages, Issue 73 (Nov/Dec 2026) will be our final issue. Our team have done lots of talking and planning (and a little crying!) and it's a big decision but we think it’s the right time for us to close this beautiful chapter. That makes this year our final year. But we're not just going to fade out quietly! Our final year will be full of colour, creativity, and of course, LOTS of beautiful quilts … a celebration of our wonderful magazine and the people that have helped us put it all together over the past twelve years.

We know this might come as a bit of a surprise after all these years ... it wasn't an easy decision! We are grateful to have you here as one of our supporters and want to be transparent about the future of the magazine.

So what can you expect from Make Modern for the rest of the year?

We will continue to publish new issues right through 2026, keeping our website open for sales, and our emails open for reader support until March 2027. We'll still share our newsletters letting you know about the latest issue and what's happening in the quilty world.

You can still grab a copy of any of our past issues. Or if you don't want to miss a single page, you just might want to check out our All-Access Pass.

Make Modern may be closing down but that doesn’t stop the quilty inspiration! With our All-Access Pass, you’ll unlock every single issue of Make Modern - that'll be 73 issues and over 700 patterns - plus expert tips, interviews, and patterns galore ... all at the click of a button. You’ve spent years building a fabric stash. Think of this as building the pattern stash to match it!

Between now and our final issue, we’ll be celebrating our Farewell Year – a joyful look back at the incredible quilts, stories, and people who’ve made Make Modern what it is. We’re so grateful to each of you for being part of this creative community.

Thank you for your support, your enthusiasm, and the countless ways you’ve inspired us. Let’s make this final year one to remember!

With love and gratitude,

Lara, Jane, Kristy + Nic,

the Make Modern Team 💕

Dear Reader, We have a little update to share! As you know, we are coming to the end of our time with Make Modern, but we wanted to make it easy to access all of our previous issues. All 70+ of them. So we created the All Access Pass - where you can get every issue that we've ever published. Hello Reader!, The cold weather has arrived here in Australia and it's utterly delightful. It's seeing me spending more time digging through the stash and sewing up all sorts of pretty things. My constant furry companions (a ragdoll kitty and a sheepadoodle dog) come hang out to stay warm under the heater - and of course to offer advice on which fabrics I should choose. They aren't the most helpful but they are good company. They also love a bit of a snuggle when I'm settling in for a good...
