Behind the Seams โœ‚๏ธ๐Ÿงต

Hello Reader!

Happy New Year! We Aussies are melting through Summer here in the Southern Hemisphere, and you'd think that would mean quilting would be the last thing on our minds. I mean a quilt in the middle of summer doesn't sound an enticing prospect, but when we're talking about the actual creation of said quilt... now -that- is exciting.

Our team here at Make Modern are all passionate quilters and love nothing more than to chat fabric, patterns, quilts, and everything in between. It's what inspired us to start a quilting magazine all those years ago. It's also what inspires us to bring you another year of magazines jam-packed with inspiration.

We've been working on the latest issue over the holidays and it's just around the corner (scroll down for details). It's going to be an excellent issue to kick off the new year and get you inspired to sew!

While you're waiting for Issue 62, let's chat about another option for your next read!

โ€‹Issue 61 is out right now, so if you're looking for a little something to read and inspire, here's a sampling of the projects you'll find!

These projects include a:

  • a lil curve piecing rainbow style from Cait Moreton-Lisle
  • a traditionally pieced two colour quilt with a big impact by Dewald Compion (also our cover quilt!)
  • clever placemats with curves by Cinzia White
  • an interesting abstract sew with big impact from Sindhu Aragam
  • plus a quilt appropriately named Wowza featuring cool colours with black and white for a striking look by Claudia Porter.

There's ten projects featuring a wide range of techniques, and options, designed to delight and inspire. Each project is from a different quilt designer so you just might find a new-to-you pattern designer!

Add to this, regular columns on free motion quilting from HollyAnne Knight, chatter about colour from Lucy Engels and hints on healthy wellbeing from Sarah Ashford. Oh and did I mention additional feature articless to learn about makers Amy Lollis and Elena McPeak?

Over 100 pages of goodness - perfect for your next quilty read!

Hello quilty friend! There's a saying that pops up whenever quilting and sewing memes are created - "I cannot count my day complete until needle, thread and fabrics meet". We may not know who originally coined the phrase, but I think we can all relate! While sometimes we don't actually get to the fabric-meet-needle point, I think it still counts when we're thinking about our next project or reading something that inspires us to get creative! As creative people, it's a bit of a necessity. So...
